Huntington Harbour covers 1.4 square miles of northwest Huntington Beach off Pacific Coast Highway, Warner Avenue and Bolsa Chica Street, built in the mid-1960s on the former Sunset Bay estuary. Five man-made islands, Admiralty, Davenport, Gilbert, Humboldt and Trinidad, join the natural Sunset Island, with more than 500 bayfront homes and over 3,000 private boat slips. Several communities are association-governed and some are gated, so exterior changes typically need approval and contractor access is arranged in advance. Island streets are narrow, and bridges mean a single route on and off some islands, so we confirm parking before arriving. This area is in the city's certified Local Coastal Program, and the City of Huntington Beach issues Coastal Development Permits itself.
