Sunset Beach is a narrow beachfront community along Pacific Coast Highway between the ocean and Huntington Harbour, ZIP 90742, covering under 134 acres at barely five feet above sea level. It was established in 1904 and stayed unincorporated until Huntington Beach annexed it in August 2011. The city now governs it as Specific Plan No. 17, with Linear Park running the length of town.

This area is in the city's certified Local Coastal Program, and the City of Huntington Beach issues Coastal Development Permits itself.
