The Old Towne, Orange Historic District was listed on the National Register on 11 July 1997 and is the largest National Register district in California, about one square mile around Plaza Park, known locally as The Circle, crossed by Chapman Avenue and Glassell Street. More than 1,300 buildings from 1874 to 1940 stand inside it, in Craftsman, Mission, Spanish Revival and Classical Revival styles, and a separate local Old Towne district overlaps it.
