The area sits near high and very high fire hazard zones, with Santiago Canyon Road named as an evacuation route, and power can go out in fire weather. SB 969 requires backup on residential openers installed since July 1 2019. Battery backup installation typically runs $200 to $400 in Orange County.
On a slope, the opener works against gravity every cycle, so a door slightly out of balance wears it sooner. Door balancing and tension adjustment typically runs $75 to $150 in Orange County.
